The beautiful antique amethyst and 14k gold ring features a single cut medium-dark purple stone with flashes of red. Red flashes in amethyst stones are a sign of higher quality gems. The single cut was primarily used at the end of the 19th century and early in the 20th century, though some very small accent diamonds are still cut this way in for modern pieces.
