An incredibly rare Alpha Xi Delta sorority ring in solid 10K yellow gold. The front features a likeness of Queen Hatshepsut of Egypt, who co-ruled as Pharaoh from about 1479–1458 B.C. The top of Hatshepsut’s head shows the Alpha Xi Delta greek letters. Incredibly unique and a fantastic symbol of female empowerment!
Alpha Xi Delta was founded in 1893 at Lombard College in Galesburg, Illinois, Alpha Xi Delta is one of the oldest women’s fraternal organizations in the United States.
According to Dr. Timothy Potts, director of the Kimbell Art Museum, “Hatshepsut is perhaps the most intriguing figure in ancient Egyptian history—a queen who attained all the powers, and even the physical trappings, of a pharaoh. As ruler of the most powerful nation on earth, she oversaw an artistic renewal that produced some of the greatest masterpieces of Egyptian art.
