Precious metal calculators can help you easily determine the melt value of your gold, silver, platinum and palladium. We like these because of their ease of use. General melt calculators are listed separately
from those for coins and require that you know the weight in grams(g), ounces(oz), troy ounces(t oz), pennyweight(dwt) or grains(gr). For gold and platinum, you’ll want a good digital scale that measures to .01 grams. Most kitchen scales won’t register small amounts so consider a scale that is designed for 50 to 100 grams capacity.
