Art Nouveau

Art Nouveau refers to a specific design style that included natural forms, flowing lines and intricate patterns. Art nouveau jewelry often included faces, animals, swirls and linear patterns. Beginning in the 1890’s and lasting through WWI, the art nouveau period produced some beautiful jewelry. Original pieces are highly collectible. When buying jewelry from this era, be sure the seller hasn’t added the term “style” after art nouveau. There are many modern reproductions available, but only pieces made during that time period can be classified as genuine art nouveau.
