Things Grandma Kept was born from a passion for antiques I discovered as a child, looking at my Grandma’s salt and pepper shaker collection.
Grandma was a collector and taught me to value the stories and history behind all the things she kept. From over 2,000 sets of salt and pepper shakers to antique china and old books, she had a lifetime of wondrous things. After she passed away, it was left to me to sort through all things throughout her home. So many wonderful antiques and stories behind them!
I couldn’t keep everything so I started selling. Other family members asked me to sell their items, and we grew from there. Today, our store is a blend of restored, recycled and re-purposed jewelry and collectibles, along with handmade jewelry destined to be tomorrow’s heirlooms.
We are family owned and operated business, which includes my three sons. Aged 19, 16, and 12, they all have a strong creative side. The oldest two have taken jewelry making classes and have created some beautiful pieces. All three are involved in cleaning, repairing and upcycling jewelry. The entire family is involved in creating handmade items, including extended family members who help out from time to time like my mother, aunts and cousins.
