Things Grandma Kept was born from a passion for antiques I discovered as a child, looking at my Grandma’s salt and pepper shaker collection.

Grandma was a collector and taught me to value the stories and history behind all the things she kept. From over 2,000 sets of salt and pepper shakers to antique china and old books, she had a lifetime of wondrous things. After she passed away, it was left to me to sort through all things throughout her home. So many wonderful antiques and stories behind them!

I couldn’t keep everything so I started selling. Other family members asked me to sell their items, and we grew from there. Today, our store is a blend of restored, recycled and re-purposed jewelry and collectibles, along with handmade jewelry destined to be tomorrow’s heirlooms.

We are family owned and operated business, which includes my three sons. Aged 19, 16, and 12, they all have a strong creative side. The oldest two have taken jewelry making classes and have created some beautiful pieces. All three are involved in cleaning, repairing and upcycling jewelry. The entire family is involved in creating handmade items, including extended family members who help out from time to time like my mother, aunts and cousins.

Our Mission

At the heart of our business is a desire to preserve all the beautiful things we find for future generations. So many pieces of handmade silver, gold and platinum are being melted down and taken away from the world, erasing the legacy left by the artists who made them. By preserving these pieces and sharing them with others, we hope to do our part to keep that history alive. We are a family owned and operated business. My three boys who range from 12-19 help with sorting, cleaning, repairs and sales. My husband is my business partner and chief cheerleader. I have a wonderful mother and aunt who also help out from time to time. I hope our family can help you find your next family heirloom! Things Grandma Kept is dedicated to honoring those who went before by preserving their work, whether that be the entire piece, or beautiful parts. We hope to reduce landfill and chemical recycling processing. Hundreds of thousands of pieces of sterling silver artwork in the form of jewelry is melted down every year. Each piece was crafted by an artist. We can't save them all, but we try!
